Sherman has an overwhelming biodata. After securing the ASEAN scholarship for the study at National University of Singapore and obtaining his first class honours in law, he decided to pursue his passion in visual art particularly in photography and filmmaking. He scored success in both. Over the years, his countless experience in both is invaluable. Ever so humble, he is willing to foray to the backwater, his roots, and share his thoughts which prove to be awe-inspiring to those who are keen to pursuit filming and photography.

As a subject, migration to Sherman glares as opposed to others. Recalling the times when as a young boy growing up in Malacca, Sherman has adapted to a sojournic lifestyle, consistently shifting back and forth between Malacca and Singapore, and being made aware that his maternal side links up to the prominent Tan Kim Seng family who donated the clocktower and bridge to the state. The endless stories, folklores, sagas and tales from his family tree fascinate him. People fascinate him. And there he forms his narratives, piecing up the oral stories and social issues.

The talk took off with about twenty enthusiasts coming mostly from the film industry listening intently . Censorship, social taboos, identity, and other impediments were touched and highlighted as Sherman recalled his experience and disparities with each of these elements and how he compromised through all the different scenarios and make the most of the opportunities. The talk ended at 5.30pm.
