Programme | Artist Talk
3 – 5pm, 22 September 2019 (Sun)
“One of the first things we discover in these groups is that personal problems are political problems. There are no personal solutions at this time. There is only collective action for a collective solution.” – Carol Hanisch.
Inundated by the waves of contemporary development, contextual limitation often derives in futility of personal grunt, especially when it is regarding gender and intimacy issues. But just how personal is “personal”? How minor is “minority”? Has institutional and social perception changed much? Are artists being too ambitious or are they in appropriate position to address identity politics by the means of art?
Dissecting from various perpectives, Dipali Gupta, Lith Ng Yee Leng and Wong Xiang Yi, approaches the subject matter using different medium. They will be having a closed-door tripartite critique and after that, on 22 Sept, they will be speaking to the public about their approaches and sharing their thoughts on the exchange.
