Dipali Gupta, one of the winners of Chan-Davies Art Prize 2018, uses sex toys to deconstruct social realities abstracted inside her art through the forms of videos, installations and paintings. In this exhibition, two single channel videos including her award winning videos titled ‘Moving Still Life’ and ‘In Her Bedroom’ are shown together with her series of paintings titled ‘Desire Lines’. Dipali questions why womanly needs have been swept under the carpet of social stigma. How society reacts towards vibrators as opposed to condoms are profoundly biased when both equally caters to desires and needs.
