The Tender Labyrinth: Echoes of a Flutter - A Solo Exhibition

d’peculiar (Joey Wong)

13 – 27 October 2024

13 October, 3pm: Opening Reception

Suma Orientalis Fine Art is delighted to present “The Tender Labyrinth: Echoes of a Flutter”, the first solo exhibition of d’peculiar (Joey Wong).

In The Tender Labyrinth: Echoes of a Flutter, the viewers are invited into a delicate maze of emotions, memories, and fleeting moments, where each step reveals a whisper of vulnerability and strength. This body of works explores the fragility and resilience of human experience, drawing upon the soft yet profound echoes that shape our inner world.

The labyrinth, often seen as a metaphor for the journey of self-discovery, is here reimagined as a tender space — one where the complexity of emotions is embraced rather than resisted. In this intricate interplay of surrealist composition and vibrant palette, each piece serves as both a reflection and a response to the silent flutter of thoughts, feelings, and dreams that move through us all.

The works on display range from ethereal abstractions to grounded, organic forms, each echoing the pulse of life’s impermanence and one’s vulnerability in the contemporary society. They speak of moments both intimate and universal, where a fleeting gesture or a soft whisper holds the weight of an untold story. These pieces invite you to pause, to listen, and to let the quiet flutter of emotion guide you deeper into the labyrinth.

Through this exhibition, we are reminded that the most profound journeys are often the quietest, and within those soft echoes, we find the echoes of ourselves.
