The Subtle Harmony Of A Dead End

18 March – 16 April

Built on the subject of the sacred feminine, Ricardo’s body of work is a crystal of philosophical metaphysics, the unpredictability of results and the itchy questioning of alchemist transmutation of light into visual form for storytelling. Immersed in the air of mystique, his mixed media and installation works induce the viewers into an inner exploration and awaken them to a delightful resonance.

Ricardo Chavez Tovar is renowned for his expertly executed photogram artworks, which create images using photographic materials. This is the second solo exhibition of Ricardo Chavez Tovar with Suma Orientalis Fine Art. He has a background in Art Studies and Chinese Painting, having graduated from La Esmeralda, the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking, and from China National Academy of Fine Art respectively. His artistic talent was recognised since he won the First Prize of 1995 Snow Sculpture Contest in Ontario, Canada. His debut in Malaysia dates back to the exhibition at Galeri PETRONAS in 1997. He has also recently exhibited his works at the Embassy of Mexico in Malaysia and now serving as a fine art lecturer in Equator College, Ricardo currently practices in Penang, Malaysia.
