Known for his meditative abstract works, Tang Hon Yin’s new series “Passing Through” has eternalised the ephemerality of vision in speed. The layers of colours are flattened into parallel lines, encapsulating quietness in the distanced memories of blurred vision one would have looking out from a fast moving train. The non-objective reference reflects the artist’s intention of allowing the audience to indulge in the sensation rather than to decipher a narrative.

Born in 1943, Tang is one of the pioneer artists in Malaysia. His works have been widely collected by National Art Gallery Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia, Galeri Petronas, RHB Bank, Sime Darby Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, ESSO Singapore, Project Design Belgium, to name a few.
