Siund Tan
B. 1981, Kedah, Malaysia.

Siund Tan graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Art (Graphic Design) from Curtin University of Technology, Australia. His preferred medium is oil paintings. Fables, folklores, mysteries, adventures, events, history, and stories became larger than live to those who affixed their gaze onto that little box one has at home. Since young, Siund is one such individual who is much affected by it. The sight and sounds on the television screen and the radio are what fascinate him as he allows his imagination to soar. As he grows older, these embedded imageries consistently replay and conjure a deep influence on him. His works capture specific moments of those glorious images and allowed them to be replayed as narratives onto his canvasses. Elements of nostalgia dominate his works.

He is the Winner of the “Malaysian Emerging Artist Award” (Malaysia, 2011) as well as the finalist in the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition of Taichung City (Taiwan, 2011).

Siund solo exhibitions include “Rewind, Replay” at Suma Orientalis (2020) and “Sometime” at G13 Gallery (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2014). His group shows include “Human Being” (F Klub, Ken Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2019), “MEAA Showcase” (White Box @ Publika, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2012), “Transit A4” (House Of Matahati, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2012), “MEA Award Exhibition” (Wisma Soka Gakkai, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2011), “The 16th Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition Of Taichung City” (Taiwan, 2011), “Rising Dream” (NN Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2009 ), “Divi5ion” (Findars Space, The Annexe, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2008).
